Habukkuk 2:4-5 Part 1 of 2

"Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God. Wealth is treacherous, and the arrogant are never at rest. They open their mouths as wide as the grave, and like death, they are never satisfied. In their greed they have gathered up many nations and swallowed many peoples."

Psalm 49:6  They trust in their wealth and boast in great riches. (see all chapter 49)

Proverbs 13:10  Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.

Proverbs 16:5  The LORD detests the proud; they will surely be punished.

Proverbs 15:18  Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.

Isaiah 47:10  "You felt secure in your wickedness. 'No one sees me,' you said. But your 'wisdom' and 'knowledge' have led you astray, and you said, 'I am the only one, and there is no other.' " (see all chapter 47)

 

"But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God." 

Romans 1:16-17  For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes--the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life."

Galatians 3:11  So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life."

Hebrews 10:37-38  "For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away."

John 3:36  And anyone who believes in God's Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn't obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God's angry judgment. (see all chapter 3)
