Psalm 119:17-24 Part 2

           GIMEL
Be good to your servant,
that I may live and obey your word.
Open my eyes to see
the wonderful truths in your instructions.
I am only a foreigner in the land.
Don't hide your commands from me!
I am always overwhelmed
with a desire for your regulations.
You rebuke the arrogant,
those who wander from your commands are cursed.
Don't let them scorn and insult me,
for I have obeyed your laws.
Even princes sit and speak against me,
but i will meditate on your decrees.
Your laws please me,
    they give me wise advice.

I am only a foreigner in the land. Don't hide your commands from me!
1 Chronicles 29:15
"We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace."  (see 1 Chronicles 29:10-20)
Hebrews 11:8-9, 13
It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith--for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. ...
All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth.
(see all Hebrews 11)
Leviticus 25:18
"If you want to live securely in the land, follow my decrees and obey my regulations."
Leviticus 25:23
"The land must never be sold on a permanent basis, for the land belongs to me. You are only foreigners and tenant farmers working for me."
(see all Leviticus 25)
Psalm 39:12
Hear my prayer, O LORD!
Listen to my cry for help!
    Don't ignore my tears.
For I am a guest--
    a traveler passing through,
as my ancestors were before me.  (see all Psalm 39)
