But
the Pharisees and teachers of religious law said to themselves, "Who
does he think he is? That's blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!" Jesus
knew what they were thinking, so he asked them, "Why do you question
this in your hearts? Is it easier to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or
'Stand up and walk'? So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the
authority on earth to forgive sins." Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed
man and said, "Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!"
Jesus knew what they were thinking,

Mark 2:9 "Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man 'Your sins are forgiven,' or 'Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk'?"
"So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins."
Daniel 7:13-14 As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence. He was given authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal--it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed.
Matthew 16:27 "For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds."
Matthew 19:28 Jesus replied, "I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."
Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
