Psalm 90:10-12 Part 1 of 2

Seventy years are given to us!
    Some even live to eighty.
But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble;
soon they disappear, and we fly away.
Who can comprehend the power of your anger?
Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve.
Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.

Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty.
2 Samuel 19:34-35  "No," he (Barzillai) replied. "I am far too old to go with the king to Jerusalem. I am eighty years old today, and I can no longer enjoy anything. Food and wine are no longer tasty, and I cannot hear the singers as they sing. I would only be a burden to my lord the king."  (see verses 31-39)

But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away.
Job 5:7
"People are born for trouble
as readily as sparks fly up from a fire."  (see verses 1-7)
Job 20:8
"They will fade like a dream and not be found.
They will vanish like a vision of the night."  (see all chapter 20)
Psalm 78:39
For he remembered that they were merely mortal,
gone like a breath of wind that never returns.  (see verses 35-39)
Psalm 90:5
You sweep people away like dreams that disappear.
They are like grass that springs up in the morning.  (see verses 3-6)
Ecclesiastes 12:1-2  Don't let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, "Life is not pleasant anymore." Remember him before the light of the sun, moon, and stars is dim to your old eyes, and rain clouds continually darken your skies.
Ecclesiastes 12:6-7  Yes, remember your Creator now while you are young, before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken. Don't wait until the water jar is smashed at the spring and the pulley is broken at the well. For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.  (see verses 1-8)
