Psalm 90:3-6 Part 1 of 2

You turn people back to dust, saying,

    "Return to dust, you mortals!"

For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,

    as brief as a few night hours.

You sweep people away like dreams that disappear.

    They are like grass that springs up in the morning.

In the morning it blooms and flourishes,

    but by evening it is dried and withered.

 

You turn people back to dust, saying, "Return to dust, you mortals!" 

Genesis 2:7  Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man's nostrils, and the man became a living person.  (see verses 4-17)

Genesis 3:19  

"By the sweat of your brow

    you will have food to eat

until you return to the ground

    from which you were made.

For you were made from dust,

    and to dust you will return."  (see all chapter 3)

Job 10:9  

" 'Remember that you made me from dust--

    will you turn me back to dust so soon?' "  (see all chapter 10)

Job 34:14-15  

"If God were to take back his spirit

    and withdraw his breath,

all life would cease,

    and humanity would turn again to dust."  (see all chapter 34)

Ecclesiastes 3:19-20  For people and animals share the same fate--both breathe and both must die. So people have no real advantage over animals. How meaningless! Both go the same place--they came from dust and they return to dust.  (see all chapter 3)

1 Corinthians 15:47  Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven.  (see verses 35-58)

Psalm 39:5  

You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.

    My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;

    at best, each of us is but a breath."  (see all Psalm 39)

2 Peter 3:8  But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.
