Luke 4:16-21 Part 1 of 5

When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written: "The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD's favor has come." He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. "The Scripture you've just heard has been fulfilled this very day!"

Matthew 2:23  So the family went and lived in a town called Nazareth. This fulfilled what the prophets had said: "He will be called a Nazarene."

Mark 6:1  Jesus left that part of the country and returned with his disciples to Nazareth, his hometown.

Matthew 13:54  He returned to Nazareth, his hometown. When he taught there in the synagogue, everyone was amazed and said, "Where does he get this wisdom and the power to do miracles?"

Mark 6:2  The next Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked, "Where did he get all this wisdom and the power to perform such miracles?"

Luke 4:31  Then Jesus went to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and taught there in the synagogue every Sabbath day.

Acts 17:2  As was Paul's custom, he went to the synagogue service, and for three Sabbaths in a row he used the Scriptures to reason with the people.  

 

and stood up to read the Scriptures. 

Acts 13:15  After the usual readings from the books of Moses and the prophets, those in charge of the service sent them this message: "Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, come and give it."

Acts 15:21  "For these laws of Moses have been preached in Jewish synagogues in every city on every Sabbath for many generations."

1 Timothy 4:13  Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them.
