Luke 4:9-13 Part 2 of 2

Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, "If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, 'He will order his angels to protect and guard you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.' " Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, 'You must not test the LORD your God.' " When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came.

Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, 'You must not test the LORD your God.' "
Deuteronomy 6:16  "You must not test the LORD your God as you did when you complained at Massah."
Exodus 17:2  So once more the people complained against Moses. "Give us water to drink!" they demanded. "Quiet!" Moses replied. "Why are you complaining against me? And why are you testing the LORD?"
Psalm 78:18  They stubbornly tested God in their hearts, demanding the foods they craved.
Psalm 78:41  Again and again they tested God's patience and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
Psalm 106:14  In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God's patience in that dry wasteland.
1 Corinthians 10:9  Nor should we put Christ to the test, as some of them did and died from snakebites.

When the devil finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came.
Mark 8:33  Jesus turned around and looked at his disciples, then reprimanded Peter. "Get away from me, Satan!" he said. "You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's."
Luke 22:52-53  Then Jesus spoke to the leading priests, the captains of the Temple guard, and the elders who had come for him. "Am I some dangerous revolutionary," he asked, "that you come with swords and clubs to arrest me? Why didn't you arrest me in the Temple? I was there every day. But this is your moment, the time when the power of darkness reigns."
