Luke 4:22-24 Part 1 of 2

Everyone spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips. "How can this be?" they asked. "Isn't this Joseph's son?" Then he said, "You will undoubtedly quote me this proverb: 'Physician heal yourself'--meaning, 'Do miracles here in your hometown like those you did in Capernaum.' But I tell you the truth, no prophet is accepted in his own hometown."

Psalm 45:2  You are the most handsome of all. Gracious words stream from your lips. God himself has blessed you forever.

"How can this be?" they asked. "Isn't this Joseph's son?" 

Matthew 13:54-58  He returned to Nazareth, his hometown. When he taught there in the synagogue everyone was amazed and said, "Where does he get this wisdom and the power to do miracles?" Then they scoffed, "He's just the carpenter's son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers--James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. All his sisters live right here among us. Where did he learn all these things?" And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.

Luke 3:23  Jesus was about thirty years old when he began his public ministry. Jesus was known as the son of Joseph. Joseph was the son of Heli.

John 6:42  They said, "Isn't this Jesus, the son of Joseph? We know his father and mother. How can he say, 'I came down from heaven'?"

John 7:15  The people were surprised when they heard him. "How does he know so much when he hasn't been trained?" they asked.

Then he said, "You will undoubtedly quote me this proverb: "Physician heal yourself' " 

Luke 23:39  One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, "So you're the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself--and us, too, while you're at it!"

Matthew 27:41-42  The leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders also mocked Jesus. "He saved others," they scoffed, "but he can't save himself! So he is the King of Israel, is he? Let him come down from the cross right now, and we will believe in him!"
