Everyone
spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from
his lips. "How can this be?" they asked. "Isn't this Joseph's son?" Then
he said, "You will undoubtedly quote me this proverb: 'Physician heal
yourself'--meaning, 'Do miracles here in your hometown like those you
did in Capernaum.' But I tell you the truth, no prophet is accepted in
his own hometown."
"--meaning, 'Do miracles here in your hometown like those you did in Capernaum.' "
Matthew 11:23-24 "And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today. I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you."
Mark 2:9-12 "Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man 'Your sins are forgiven,' or 'Stand up, pick up your mat and walk'? So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins." Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, "Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!" And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, "We've never seen anything like this before!" (see verses 1-8)
John 4:49-50 The official pleaded, "Lord, please come now before my little boy dies." Then Jesus told him, "Go back home. Your son will live!" And the man believed what Jesus said and started home. (see verses 46-54)
"But I tell you the truth, no prophet is accepted in his own home town."
John 4:43-44 At the end of two days, Jesus went on to Galilee. He himself had said that a prophet is not honored in his hometown.
