Didn't the LORD make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth. "For I hate divorce!" says the LORD, the God of Israel. "To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies. "So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife."
You have wearied the LORD with your words. "How have we wearied him," you ask. You have wearied him by saying that all who do evil are good in the LORD's sight, and he is pleased with them. You have wearied him by asking, "Where is the God of justice?"
Didn't the LORD make you one with your wife?
Genesis 2:24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. (see verses 18-25)
Matthew 19:4-6 "Haven't you read the Scriptures?" Jesus replied. "They record that from the beginning 'God made them male and female.' " And he said, " 'This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.' Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together." (see verses 3-12)
In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union.
Deuteronomy 14:2 "You have been set apart as holy to the LORD your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure."
1 Corinthians 7:14 For the believing wife brings holiness to her marriage, and the believing husband brings holiness to his marriage. Otherwise, your children would not be holy, but now they are holy.
1 Corinthians 7:10 But for those who are married, I have a command that comes not from me, but from the Lord. A wife must not leave her husband.
Matthew 5:32 "But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman also commits adultery." (see verses 31-32)
Matthew 19:8-9 Jesus replied, "Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God originally intended. And I tell you this, whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery--unless his wife has been unfaithful." (see verses 3-12, also Mark 10:2-12, Luke 16:18)
