Malachi 3:1 Part 2 of 2

"Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies.

"Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple."
Micah 5:2
        But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
are only a small village among all the people of Judah.
        Yet a ruler of Israel,
whose origins are in the distant past
will come from you on my behalf. (see verses 1-5a)

"The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly,"
Isaiah 42:6
"I, the LORD, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness.
I will take you by the hand and guard you,
and I will give you to my people, Israel,
as a symbol of my covenant with them.
And you will be a light to guide the nations." (see verses 1-9)
Isaiah 49:8
"At just the right time, I will respond to you.
On the day of salvation I will help you.
I will protect you and give you to the people
            as my covenant with them.
Through you I will reestablish the land of Israel
and assign it to its own people again." (see verses 8-12)
Isaiah 59:21  "And this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you. They will be on your lips and on the lips of your children and your children's children forever. I, the LORD, have spoken!" (see all chapter 59)
Jeremiah 31:31  "The day is coming," says the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah." (see verses 31-40)
Luke 22:20  After supper he took another cup of wine and said, "This cup is the new covenant between God and his people--an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you." (see verses 14-23)
Hebrews 9:14-15  Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant. (see verses 11-28)

"is surely coming," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies.
Hebrews 12:24-25  You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel. Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven! (see verses 18-29)
