Luke 18:13-14 Part 2 of 2

"But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, 'O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.' I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."

1 Samuel 2:7-8  "The LORD makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up. He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the LORD's and he has set the world in order." (see verses 1:1-2:11)
Psalm 18:27  You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud.
Proverbs 3:34  The LORD mocks the mockers but is gracious to the humble.
Isaiah 57:15  The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: "I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts."
Ezekiel 21:26  "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Take off your jeweled crown, for the old order changes. Now the lowly will be exalted, and the mighty will be brought down." (see verses 18-27)
