Luke 18:18-21 Part 3 of 3

Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: "Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?"  "Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked him. "Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: 'You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother.' " The man replied, "I've obeyed all these commandments since I was young."

The man replied, "I've obeyed all these commandments since I was young."

Matthew 19:20  "I've obeyed all these commandments," the young man replied. "What else must I do?" 

Mark 10:20  "Teacher," the man replied, "I've obeyed all these commandments since I was young."

Acts 26:4-5  "As the Jewish leaders are well aware, I (Paul) was given a thorough Jewish training from my earliest childhood among my own people and in Jerusalem. If they would admit it, they know that I have been a member of the Pharisees, the strictest sect of our religion."

Romans 3:21  But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. (see verses 19-26)

Philippians 3:5-6  I (Paul) was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin--a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault.

Philippians 3:8-11  Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God's way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! (see all chapter 3)
