Luke 18:18-21 Part 2 of 3

Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: "Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?"  "Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked him. "Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: 'You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother.' " The man replied, "I've obeyed all these commandments since I was young."

"But to answer your question, you know the commandments: 'You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother.' "

Matthew 5:21-22  "You have heard that our ancestors were told, 'You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.' But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell."

Matthew 5:27-28  "You have heard the commandment that says, 'You must not commit adultery.' But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

Matthew 19:17-18  "Why ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. But to answer your question--if you want to receive eternal life keep the commandments."  "Which ones?" the man asked. And Jesus replied, " 'You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.' "

Mark 10:19  "But to answer your question, you know the commandments: 'You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not cheat anyone. Honor your father and mother.' "

Luke 10:26-28  Jesus replied, "What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?" The man answered, "You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.' And, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "  "Right!" Jesus told him. "Do this and you will live!"

Romans 3:9-10  For the commandments say, "You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet." These--and other such commandments--are summed up in this one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God's law.
