Luke 15:14-19 Part 1 of 3

"About the time his money ran out a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. He persuaded a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything. When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, 'At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and say, "Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant." ' "

Genesis 12:10  At that time a severe famine struck the land of Canaan, forcing Abram to go down to Egypt, where he lived as a foreigner.

Genesis 26:1  A severe famine now struck the land, as had happened before in Abraham's time. so Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines, lived.

Genesis 41:30-31  "But afterward there will be seven years of famine so great that all the prosperity will be forgotten in Egypt. Famine will destroy the land. This famine will be so severe that even the memory of the good years will be erased."

Ruth 1:1  In the days when the judges ruled in Israel, a severe famine came on the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah left his home and went to live in the country of Moab, taking his wife and two sons with him.

Amos 8:11  "The time is surely coming," says the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine on the land--not a famine of bread or water but of hearing the words of the LORD."

Matthew 24:7  "Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world."

Mark 13:8  "Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in many parts of the world, as well as famines. But this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come."

Revelation 6:8  I looked up and saw a horse whose color was pale green. Its rider was named Death, and his companion was the Grave. These two were given authority over one-fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword and famine and diseases and wild animals.
