Luke 16:16-18 Part 2 of 2

"Until John the Baptist, the law of Moses and the messages of the prophets were your guides. But now the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is eager to get in. But that doesn't mean that the law has lost its force. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the smallest point of God's law to be overturned. For example, a man who divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery. And anyone who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery."

"But that doesn't mean that the law has lost its force. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the smallest point of God's law to be overturned."
Psalm 119:89  Your eternal word, O LORD, stands firm in heaven.
Isaiah 40:8  "The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever."
Isaiah 55:11  "It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it." (says the LORD)
Matthew 5:18  "I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God's law will disappear until its purpose is achieved."
Matthew 24:34-35  "I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear." (see all of chapter 24, also Mark 13 and Luke 21)

"For example, a man who divorced his wife and marries someone else commits adultery. And anyone who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery."
Matthew 5:31-32  "You have heard the law that says, 'A man can divorce his wife by merely giving her a written notice of divorce.' But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman also commits adultery."
Matthew 19:8  Jesus replied, "Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended." (see verses 3-12, also Mark 10:2-12)
Romans 7:3  So while her husband is alive, she would be committing adultery if she married another man. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law and does not commit adultery when she remarries. (see verses 1-3)
1 Corinthians 7:10-11  But for those who are married, I have a command that does not come from me, but from the Lord. A wife must not leave her husband. But if she does leave him, let her remain single or else be reconciled to him. And the husband must not leave his wife. (see chapter 7)
