Luke 17:1-4 Part 2 of 2

One day Jesus said to his disciples, "There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin. So watch yourselves! If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive."

"It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin."
Matthew 18:5-6  "And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea." (see verses 1-10, also see Mark 9:42-49)

"So watch yourselves! If another believer sins, rebuke that person;"
Leviticus 19:17  "Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin."
Matthew 18:15  "If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back."
James 5:19-20  My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.

"then, if there is repentance, forgive."
Matthew 6:14  "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you."
Ephesians 4:32  Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Colossians 3:13  Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive."
Matthew 18:21-22  Then Peter came to him and asked, "Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?"  "No, not seven times," Jesus replied, "but seventy times seven!"
