Luke 16:19-21 Part 1 of 2

Jesus said, "There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury. At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores. As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man's table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores."

Esther 8:15  Then Mordecai left the king's presence, wearing the royal robe of blue and white, the great crown of gold, and an outer cloak of fine linen and purple. And the people of Susa celebrated the new decree. (see chapter 8)

Luke 6:24  "What sorrow awaits you who are rich, for you have your only happiness now."
James 1:11  The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all their achievements.
James 5:5  You have spent  your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter. (see verses 1-6)

Proverbs 14:20  The poor are despised even by their neighbors, while the rich have many "friends."
Ezekiel 16:49  "Sodom's sins were pride, gluttony, and laziness, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door." (see chapter 16)
Acts 3:1-2  Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o'clock prayer service. As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. (see verses 1-11)
