"Then
the rich man said, 'Please, Father Abraham, at least send him to my
father's home. For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so
they don't end up in this place of torment.' But Abraham said, 'Moses
and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read what they
wrote.' The rich man replied, 'No, Father Abraham! But if someone is
sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn
to God.' But Abraham said, 'If they won't listen to Moses and the
prophets, they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Matthew 28:11-15 As the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the leading priests what had happened. (see verses 1-10) A meeting with the elders was called, and they decided to give the soldiers a large bribe. They told the soldiers, 'You must say, 'Jesus' disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.' If the governor hears about it, we'll stand up for you so you won't get in trouble." So the guards accepted the bribe and said what they were told to say. Their story spread widely among the Jews, and they still tell it today.
Hebrews 3:7-11 That is why the Holy Spirit says, "Today when you hear his voice, don't harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness. There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years. So I was angry with them, and I said, 'Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.' So in my anger I took an oath: 'They will never enter my place of rest.' " (see verses 1-19, Psalm 95:7-11)
