Luke 22:31-34 Part 2 of 3

"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers." Peter said, "Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you, and even to die with you." But Jesus said, "Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me."

 

"But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail."

John 17:9-11  "My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory. Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are." (see all chapter 17)

Romans 8:34  Who then will condemn us? No one--for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading for us. (see all of chapter 8)

Hebrews 7:25  Therefore, he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. (see verses 20-28)

Hebrews 9:24  For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with human hands, which was only a copy of the true one in heaven. He entered into heaven itself to appear now before God on our behalf. (see verses 24-28)

John 21:15-19  After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?"  "Yes, Lord," Peter replied, "you know I love you."  "Then feed my lambs," Jesus told him. Jesus repeated the question: "Simon son of John, do you love me?"  "Yes, Lord, Peter said, "you know I love you."  "Then take care of my sheep," Jesus said. A third time he asked him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you." Jesus said, "Then feed my sheep. I tell you the truth, when you were young you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don't want to go." Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, "Follow me."
