James 4:8-10 Part 3 of 3

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

James 4:6  But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, "God opposes the proud but favors the humble." (see verses 4-10)

Job 5:11  "He gives prosperity to the poor and protects those who suffer." (see verses 8-27)

Deuteronomy 8:16-17  "He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good. He did all this so you would never say to yourself, 'I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.' " (see all chapter 8)

2 Chronicles 7:14  "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land." (see verses 11-22)

Psalm 147:6  The LORD supports the humble, but he brings the wicked down into the dust. (see all Psalm 147)

Proverbs 11:2  Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. (see verses 1-11)

Isaiah 66:2  "My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the LORD, have spoken! I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word." (see all chapter 66)

Luke 18:14  "I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." (see verses 9-14)
