James 5:1-3 Part 1 of 2

Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. Your gold and silver have become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgment.

Look here, you rich people:
Luke 6:24  "What sorrow awaits you who are rich, for you have your only happiness now." (see verses 24-26)
1 Timothy 6:9  But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. (see verses 3-10)
James 2:2-4  For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, "You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor"--well, doesn't this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives? (see verses 1-13)
Proverbs 11:28  Trust in your money and down you go! But the godly flourish like leaves in spring.
Amos 6:1  What sorrow awaits you who lounge in luxury in Jerusalem, and you who feel secure in Samaria! You are famous and popular in Israel, and people go to you for help. (see all chapter 6)

Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you.
Isaiah 13:6  Scream in terror, for the day of the LORD has arrived--the time for the Almighty to destroy. (see verses 4-13)
Ezekiel 30:2-3  "Son of man, prophesy and give this message from the Sovereign LORD: Weep and wail for that day, for the terrible day is almost here--the day of the LORD! It is a day of clouds and gloom a day of despair for the nations." (see all chapter 30)
Romans 3:16-17  "Destruction and misery always follow them. They don't know where to find peace." (see verses 9-20; also Isaiah 59:7-8)
