James 5:1-3 Part 2 of 2

Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. Your gold and silver have become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgment.

Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags.
Job 13:28  "I waste away like rotting wood, like a moth-eaten coat." (see 13:20-14:6)
Psalm 39:11  When you discipline us for our sins, you consume like a moth what is precious to us. Each of us is but a breath. (see verses 6-13)
Isaiah 50:9  See, the Sovereign LORD is on my side! Who will declare me guilty? All my enemies will be destroyed like old clothes that have been eaten by moths! (see verses 7-9)
Matthew 6:19-20  "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal." (see verses 19-21; also Luke 11:34-36)

Your gold and silver have become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgment.
James 5:7-8  Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord's return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near. (see verses 7-12)
Luke 12:21  "Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God." (see verses 13-21)
Luke 16:25-26  "But Abraham said to him, 'Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish. And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can crossover to us from there!' " (see verses 19-31)
Romans 2:5-6  But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. He will judge everyone according to what they have done. (see verses 1-16)
