James 5:10

For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

2 Chronicles 36:15-16  The LORD, the God of their ancestors, repeatedly sent his prophets to warn them, for he had compassion on his people and his Temple. But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the LORD's anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done. (se verses 11-21)
Matthew 5:11-12  "God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way."
Matthew 23:34  "Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers of religious law. But you will kill some by crucifixion, and you flog others with whips in your synagogues, chasing them from city to city." (see all chapter 23)
Matthew 23:37  "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me."
Acts 7:52  "Name one prophet your ancestors didn't persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One--the Messiah whom you betrayed and murdered." (see all chapter 7)
1 Thessalonians 2:15-16  For some of the Jews killed the prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus. Now they have persecuted us, too. They fail to please God and work against all humanity as they try to keep us from preaching the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles. By doing this they continue to pile up their sins. But the anger of God has caught up with them at last. (see all chapter 2)
Hebrews 11:32-34  How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets. By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight. (see verses 32-38, also all chapter 11)
