James 5:17-18

Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

 

Elijah was as human as we are,

Acts 14:15  "Friends, why are you doing this? We are merely human beings--just like you! We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them." (see verses 8-20)

 

and yet, when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 

1 Kings 17:1  Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab, "As surely as the LORD, the God of Israel lives--the God I serve--there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word!" (see all chapter 17)

Luke 4:25-26  "Certainly there were many needy widows in Israel in Elijah's time, when the heavens were closed for three and a half years, and a severe famine devastated the land. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them. He was sent instead to a foreigner--a widow of Zarephath in the land of Sidon." (see 1 Kings 17:7-24)

 

Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops. 

1 Kings 18:1-2  Later on, in the third year of the drought, the LORD said to Elijah, "Go and present yourself to King Ahab. Tell him that I will soon send rain!" So Elijah went to appear before Ahab. Meanwhile the famine had become very severe in Samaria. (see verses 1-40)

1 Kings 18:44-45  Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, "I saw a little cloud about the size of a man's hand rising from the sea." Then Elijah shouted, "Hurry to Ahab and tell him, 'Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don't hurry, the rain will stop you!' " And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel. (see verses 41-46)
